While Americans were celebrating the Revolution, as a Canadian, I reached an exceptionally high level of visibility at the 1976 Republican National Convention in Kansas City.
After the Republicans left town The Kansas City Times published 2 reports on my Time in the city, the 1st on September 13, 1976 with lots of information on the Future, and the followup on ALL SOULS DAY, November 2nd in the Spirit of '76.

It was a much greater surprise to me than for any other of the 100 Million People World Wide watching the TV movie THE DAY AFTER on November 20, 1983, when Kansas City of all places was incinerated in a nuclear Holocaust.
The real kicker for me was after the Destruction, the movie pauses at the very same picture frame published by the Kansas City Times, 7 years to the month earlier. I'm in that frame, but only Spiritually in the movie.

Naturally with this history, as I read your article Today, John, I read it as bringing life to those SIGNS OF THE TIMES from '76 to '83, so long ago, for these Times 42 years later, and it's not just a coincidence.

How peculiar you mention the 'Day After' -- I've been thinking about that film recently, which as we both know was one of the most important moments in cinema and had a huge impact on social movements in the US and Europe, and which probably played a role in ending the Cold War as it emboldened the Peace movement.
So why don't we have anyone today making such films?! Why such a cavalier attitude towards nuclear war on behalf of our 'intellectual class'? Why are they silent and inactive?

I knew that since 2014 (and even before) Ukraine had been terrorizing ethnic Russians who lived east of the Dnieper River. I saw Eva Bartlett's video reports about the 'butterfly' little mines that Ukraine shot via missiles into towns and villages--peppering schoolyards and grassy areas with wretched temptations to children, and horrid surprises to walkers.
Hands and feet of innocents blown off in sadistic acts of terror...
I know how Ukrainian (and mercenary) soldiers massacred and tortured Russian citizens in Kursk. Such gut- and heart-wrenching scenes Russian soldiers found after the cruel enemy had retreated.
I did not know that such terrors continue to be inflicted on Russian people as the battles are going on. Truly demons inhabit the souls of those causing so much pain.
Thank you for the comment. Ukrainian war crimes are indeed the worst in Europe since 1945. They are bona fide Nazis. I translated the official report on Ukrainian war crimes in Kursk; they savagely tortured and murdered hundreds of elderly residents of Kursk. Every western leader must be sentenced to life imprisonment for their support of these war crimes.
I agree with you that Western leaders supportive--and holding knowledge of the atrocities but doing nothing about it--should be brought to justice and imprisoned for being accessories to murder.
And on top of knowing, their support includes supplying weapons and ammo to monster Ukraine.
A county's president shouts that there must be peace, a ceasefire must happen...while he approves ongoing munitions and money deliveries to murderers Ukraine and Israel.
