With origins that go back eons, fairy tales offer timeless lessons on truth and morality. Today, both Russia and Ukraine face a villain in Washington DC who is right out of Slavic folklore.
I appreciate your metaphor because I like reading Slavic fairy tales. It's not easy to defeat Koschei the immortal, unfortunately! In order to defeat him the hero must find his death, wich was hidden in the edge of needle, wich was hidden in duck-egg, which was hidden in the duck, wich was hidden in the hare, wich was hidden in the box, wich was hanging on the oak, wich was growing on the island Booyan, wich was somewere in the ocean ...
Excellent article! I never liked Biden, when he was the keynote speaker at my son's commencement, I made a point of demonstratively sitting and playing with my phone during the standing ovation. While I have no strong views on American domestic politics, I resented his hawkishness and cynicism dealing with the Ukraine issue under Obama. One thing I am grateful for though is that he and his team seem completely incompetent, especially in foreign policy. We just have to hope he doesn't get us all killed!
Thanks for the comment. I agree, but I am increasingly worried that he actually wants a nuclear war. His financial backers -- such as the Tech titans -- have built underground residences on the island of Kauai. I repeat -- underground. Why do they need residences underground?
I sincerely hope that nobody wants a nuclear war, because it's not rational, and that the underground residences are merely expensive insurance policies. Certainly nobody can deny that the risks of nuclear war have increased substantially, not to mention the pandemic risk that covid brought to the fore. (As an aside, underground residences are easier to defend even if it's not radioactive fallout you're worried about.) And there's always the possibility that the generals refuse the order, citing diminished mental capacities or what have you. Not a very optimistic take on my part, but the best I can muster at the moment.
It must be very hard for Americans to accept the fact that their president is a demon who is responsible for the bloodshed in Ukraine. To see an end to this bloody conflict in Ukraine, Americans have to stand against their own government!

Thank you, Natalia. I also hope we can find a way to defeat Koschei.
