U.S. Proxies Accused of Executing Hundreds of Civilians in Donbass
Reports are emerging that the U.S.-backed Ukrainian army systematically massacred Russian locals as it retreated from Selidovo (Donbass). Did the order come from the White House?
Unless you follow the war in Donbass closely, you probably never heard of Selidovo, a small city that had 21,000 residents in 2014, and which is located about 30 miles west of Donetsk City. Like many places in Donbass, Selidovo’s ethnic Russian population suffered tremendously under 10 years of Ukrainian military occupation — ever since spring 2014 when the region overwhelmingly voted to secede from Ukraine.
Two months ago, Selidovo was liberated by Russian troops, but few locals were left alive to rejoice. In violation of international law the Ukrainian army held positions in residential areas, using civilians as human shields, (as they often do all across front line towns and cities), inevitably drawing Russian fire. Upon retreat, the Ukrainians utilize scorched earth tactics, destroying everything, even the people.
Selidovo has a dark secret that’s now coming to light. Free from the terror of the Ukrainian secret police, the few surviving locals are coming forward with information about friends, family and neighbors executed by forces loyal to the U.S.-backed regime in Kiev, whose stated mission is to “destroy everything Russian”. Sadly, we see these atrocities in every settlement occupied by the Pentagon’s proxy army. Such war crimes seem to be a deliberate part of American terror policy.
"As for the number of people killed, Selidovo residents claim it’s in the hundreds. Some say the number could reach several hundred. During their retreat, Ukrainian forces killed everyone they could," said Maxim Grigoriev, a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, and head of the International Public Tribunal on the Crimes of Ukrainian Neo-Nazis.

On November 17, Grigoriev’s group issued the report: Mass Shooting of Civilians in the City of Selidovo by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. "In addition to punitive death squads, all soldiers were involved; the massacres took place throughout the city,” said Grigoriev. (Not a single journalist from major western media attended his press conference).
One eyewitness, V.N. Pogorelov, said: "They broke into building 19 and killed many people. Whoever opened the door, they shot immediately. There was an 80-year-old grandmother, a former teacher. They shot everyone in the head. Three people survived in that building because the Ukrainians didn't have time to kill everyone."
Ukrainian snipers on rooftops picked off local residents walking around town, using them as ‘target practice’. Some locals said they often heard foreign languages — possibly French and Georgian — among the rampaging soldiers who acted with extreme brutality.
"Since 2022, we’ve interviewed over 1,000 victims and witnesses of Kiev’s crimes, but the crimes in Selidovo are shocking in their brutality…” said Grigoriev. “This is deliberate genocide orchestrated by the Neo-Nazi regime in Kiev."
To cover up their ghastly crimes, the Ukrainian soldiers burned the bodies of their victims. Another local said: "The Ukrainian soldiers entered our home on October 21 (2024) just as they planned to retreat. They lined up my wife, son, father-in-law and grandson against the wall. My wife started crying and asking 'What are you doing?' The soldier just started shooting. He killed my wife first, then kept firing. I managed to escape through the garden. When I returned later, I found their burnt bodies."
Yet another witness said: "On Shchors Street, the Ukrainians shot many people. Whoever opened the door, they executed. On the 3rd floor they killed Galya; on the 5th - Lena. They were all pensioners. Harmless old women. One woman was running home and didn't make it to the first floor. The Ukrainians shot her dead."
Not surprisingly, Zelensky’s regime and his EU masters deny the accusations. As usual, any grave claim by Moscow is dismissed as “Russian disinformation” — always a convenient way for the U.S. and the EU to disregard damning facts.
On one of its websites, the EU said: “This is a pro-Kremlin narrative about foreigners committing atrocities against civilians. This is part of a repeated Kremlin narrative about the large-scale presence of Western 'mercenaries' in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This can be considered as hate speech as it points out one particular nationality (Polish) and associates it with imaginary but horrible war crimes.”

For starters, the Russians never accused Poles of crimes in Selidovo; (though Poles are accused of crimes in the Kursk Region, where hundreds of Russian civilians are also believed to have been massacred by invading Ukrainian and NATO soldiers). Second, the claim of “hate speech” as a rebuttal to accusations of war crimes is bizarre; a cynical ruse to distract the public from the true crime.
Under European Commission president (and German politician) Ursula von der Leyen, information about Ukrainian war crimes has been suppressed in western media. Von der Leyen comes from a long line of white supremacists and Nazis. (Her American great grandmother was Mary L Robertson, whose family were major South Carolina slave-owners. Her grandfather Friedrich Carl Albrecht was a loyal citizen of the Third Reich and profited as a cotton merchant in Bremen).
The EU’s effort to dismiss Russia’s accusations are cynical and deceitful. But then, we know that the EU constitutes the Fourth Reich, and hopes to succeed where Nazi Germany failed. While Moscow needs to continue the investigation and thoroughly document each crime, there are indisputable facts that allow us to confirm the context of Ukrainian terrorism, which has been confirmed in many other places.
First, Selidovo is in historic Russian lands that voted to rejoin Russia in accordance with international law (the right to self-determination). Second, Selidovo was under Ukrainian military occupation for 10 years, with civil liberties suspended; human rights groups weren’t allowed there. Finally, when defeated Ukrainian troops realized they had lost the city, they decided to exterminate the locals for supporting Russia.
In this context, an astute observer will conclude that Kiev had a strong motive and the military power in place to commit such atrocities. Therefore, Moscow’s claims are highly plausible and need to be brought to the attention of the United Nations and other international institutions. Will the U.S. and British media investigate? In theory, breaking a story about war crimes with the Pentagon’s fingerprints all over it should win a Pulitzer Prize. But, today, career advancement in the U.S. and British media depends on a willingness to help the Pentagon and CIA cover up their ghastly crimes across the globe.
Half a century ago, we lived in a very different America. In November 1969, Seymour Hersh uncovered the My-lai massacre in Vietnam that saw nearly 500 civilians massacred by U.S. troops in March 1968. That story made Hersh a legend of American journalism and earned him a Pulitzer Prize in 1970.
Today, Hersh lacks the energy to research and break such stories; and he wants to live out his life in comfort, not floating in the Potomac River. In 1969, an American journalist could take on the Pentagon and win. Today, you’ll see your career destroyed, blacklisted from the profession (like myself); or you end up like Scott Bennett whose short foray into journalism ended abruptly last month with his suspicious death.
When Kiev is defeated, Russia must compel Europe and the U.S. to pay reparations for all the destruction and loss of life in Donbass. Reparations must be a condition for peace negotiations with the U.S.
Trump must admit American guilt, and we the American people must collectively repent and atone for the wickedness of our ruling class. We must rebuild Donbass.
The perpetrators of such war crimes must be brought to justice, wherever they may be — in Washington, London, Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, Brussels and Kiev. This is the least we can do to give repose to the souls of the innocents massacred by our evil Ukrainian proxies in Selidovo and across Donbass, Kursk and other regions.
I listen to The Duran's Alex Christoforou's daily news and commentary videos. He refers to the European Com. president as "Ursula Von der Crazy". Now I see more reason why: she embraces the Nazi mindset, which is craziness. She supports murder and genocide to achieve goals of power and wealth. Alex also calls her a pirate, for she eagerly seizes what is not hers.
Thank you, John, for your important and well-written report.
