The Age of Liberal Empire: NATO's Hydra of Chaos

Wherever conflict and war rage, you can be certain a NATO nation is deeply involved. Led by a corrupt and rapacious gerontocracy, the West today is unable to shed 500-year old imperial habits.

A part of me wants to believe that the U.S./ NATO war in Ukraine, as well as its many invasions and bombings over the past 25 years, are just an aberration in western history; and that in the late 1990s a new ruling elite came to power and unleashed its evil plans for global domination upon a hapless world.

Alas, that’s only partially true. Since the dawn of the Age of Discovery in the late 15th century, the West’s ruling classes have been ardent builders of global empire: colonial expansion, trans-Atlantic slavery, and wars that decimated and deported indigenous populations.

Today, looking at NATO policy, we see that it’s business as usual for the West in the historical context. However, these imperial crimes are now cleverly masked by the messianic tenets of liberal progressive globalism. Yet, their hypocrisy and lies are obvious to even the least discerning of fools. In Ukraine, for example, NATO leaders say they’re ‘protecting’ freedom and democracy, but at the same time they call for exterminating the indigenous ethnic Russians of Donbass and Crimea.

If this mission is accomplished then the spoils of empire — the wealth of Donbass and Crimea — will be sold off to global financial corporations in London and New York. Some of these institutions, such as BlackRock, have already negotiated sweet deals with Kiev. In essence, it’s the 16th century imperial game plan in action.

The English-speaking countries are the most vocal supporters of this planned Final Solution for the Russians of Donbass and Crimea. That’s how the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand were settled centuries ago — exterminating or deporting most natives. (In contrast, the Spanish and Portuguese focused more on trying to convert the South and Central American natives to Catholicism.)

A long history of destroying freedom and democracy

Despite the infamy around the Vietnam War and the War in Iraq, the U.S. doesn’t often use invasion as a tool of empire. Washington often creates chaos from the shadows, utilizing proxies to organize coups, insurgencies, civil wars, and economic chaos. Like a hard-to-detect virus, this plague of death and destruction silently spreads across the globe, and no country is safe.

Most notable among the CIA’s nefarious secret activities in the post-War era are the overthrow in 1953 of Iran’s democratically elected leader Mohammad Mosaddegh; the overthrow in 1973 of democratically elected Salvador Allende in Chile; the breakup of the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s; and of course the violent insurrection in Kiev in early 2014 when democratically elected President Viktor Yanukovych was deposed.

Sudan is now the latest example of Washington’s stealthily destructive handiwork. As you’ve probably heard, Sudan has occupied front page news over the past week, with the country’s capital plunged into armed conflict between two factions.

Ostensibly, the conflict is a power struggle between military ruler General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan and General Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, who is head of the Rapid Support Forces. However, when you dig deeper one very interesting fact comes to light. Earlier this year, Sudan signed a preliminary agreement to allow Russia to build a naval base on the Red Sea.

Can you imagine how the creatures that inhabit the White House went ballistic?! How dare Russia build one small naval base! That’s a grave and ‘existential’ threat to NATO’s “rules-based order”. Sudan needs to be taught a lesson in western democracy.

Speaking of overseas bases… Did you know that the U.S. has over 800 military bases in 70 countries. The UK has about 140 bases in 42 countries or territories. France has a dozen bases in Africa and its overseas territories.

NATO is the most powerful military bloc in history and like the Hydra of Greek mythology, it can count on any of the 31 members to do its dirty work. Except for Russia, no other country or bloc even comes close to NATO’s awesome global military power. (China has just one small naval base in Djibouti, on the Horn of Africa.)

For all their economic might and vast populations, China and India don’t even have a fraction of NATO’s military power. Only Russia has a military that can withstand NATO’s onslaught — as it’s now successfully doing in Ukraine. Only Russia stands in the way of NATO’s plans for global empire and domination. And this is why Russia must be destroyed and subjugated.

Agents of Chaos. Agents of Empire

NATO is a global empire, yet most Americans and Europeans are oblivious to the crimes that their governments commit in their name and with their tax dollars/euros.

This reality is not always obvious because many people point to the West’s great achievements in education, science, engineering, culture, entertainment, sport, and economic opportunity as examples of the West’s noble and civilizing impact on the world. Indeed, the West has so much good to offer. But we have no right to force our way of life and values on other countries, especially at gunpoint. By the way, in 1940, Nazi Germany was also at the pinnacle of science, engineering, culture, sport, education and economic opportunity. We all know what happened next.

We have to face the painful reality and call things by their real names. The West is ruled by an evil elite with an insatiable appetite for wealth and power. And it’s been that way for most of the past 500 years. I’m really not saying anything even slightly controversial or debatable here. The facts are very clear.

NATO’s ambitions are the greatest threat to the peace and prosperity of this planet. Those of us who are citizens of the West need to ask ourselves: Are we fine with these horrendous crimes committed in our name? And can the West be reformed and our nations reemerge as constructive and peaceful members of the global community?

This is indeed the most important challenge before our generation. The existence of the human race depends on answers to the above questions. Either the West needs to be reformed from within, or there must be a coordinated and vigorous effort by the global community to put an end to the West’s mad ambition for world domination.
