A Con Artist in Congress - 3 Takeaways from Zelensky's Speech
Speaking before a veritable rogues' gallery of the U.S. ruling class, the Ukrainian actor and president gave his best performance. His $100 billion scam is safe, for now.
“Send more weapons. Send more money” — that was the fundamental message from the Ukrainian actor and con artist who appeared before Congress on December 21 in a khaki-colored sweatshirt, speaking for about 20 minutes.
This was Vladimir Zelensky’s greatest performance yet, truly worthy of an Oscar. About $45 billion in new funding was at stake. More money for him and his gang; but more death, despair, poverty and suffering for the Ukrainian and Russian people.
The fact that the U.S. will send $45 billion more to Kiev is clear indication how bad the war is going for Kiev. If it was truly winning — as the media tells us — then Kiev wouldn’t need more assistance. Kiev’s losses are around 150,000 killed. The Russians have set up a kill-box in Donbass and are obliterating enemy hardware as soon as it comes close to the front lines. Not to mention destroying Ukraine’s energy system.
Along with Big Pharma, expenditures on war are the most profitable business. And so Zelensky was warmly received in Congress, an institution that’s also quite skilled in numerous scams. The Ukrainian leader felt very comfortable among his ilk, and when he promised a fat return on America’s “investment” in the crusade against Russia, the hall exploded in Stalinist applause. (I wonder how many Congressmen — or their family members — own shares in defense companies?)
Nearly every word that Zelensky uttered was a lie or half-truth meant to mislead the American people. For the past 8 years — and especially in the past two months — Ukrainian forces have wantonly bombed civilian sites in Donbass, slaughtering and maiming thousands of innocents. But western media, NGOs and politicians have ignored those crimes and kept silent.
Next, Zelensky mocked U.S. history, falsely comparing his regime’s current war to the Battle of Saratoga (autumn 1777) and the Battle of the Bulge (late 1944). Zelensky tried to push the right emotional buttons. But in trying too hard, he only undermined himself. Instead of instilling pride into patriotic Americans, he left us disgusted.
I can sum it up in two words — emotional blackmail. And it didn’t work.
Zelensky made other misleading claims in order to gain Americans’ sympathy — such as Ukrainians plans to celebrate Christmas on December 25 in “darkness and cold”. In fact, an estimated 67% of Ukrainians are Orthodox and celebrate Christmas on January 6. No more than 20% of Ukranians are Catholics or Protestants, and celebrate on December 25.
Or perhaps we can see this as further proof that Zelensky doesn’t consider those 67% of Russian-speaking Orthodox Ukrainians to be “real Ukrainians”. Under the influence of the far-right Azov Battalion, Zelensky’s vision for Ukraine is an ethnically pure state — cleansed of undesirables. In line with ‘European values’, of course.
Speaking of Christmas, in the past month Zelensky’s regime has unleashed a brutal repression against the Orthodox Church — bombing its churches and monasteries, murdering and arresting priests. Please keep that in mind if you’re celebrating Christmas this weekend.
Here are my three main takeaways from Zelensky’s speech before Congress.
The U.S. has de facto declared war on Russia. More than a dozen times, the two houses of Congress broke into thunderous applause for the Ukrainian actor. It was cultish and bizarre. It was humiliating and disrespectful to the American people, leaving many of us very uncomfortable. Remember — Congress has the official power to declare war. Zelensky openly called for a crusade to destroy Russia, and instead of restraining this mad con man, our Congress approved $45 billion more in military aid. And I suspect much more sophisticated hardware is going to Ukraine than we’re told. This will only further endanger our nation and Europe, and bring us closer to a nuclear war with Russia. Why aren’t more people alarmed by that possibility?
In demonizing Russia, Biden unites the American ruling class. By painting the fight against Russia as an epic battle of “Autocracy vs Democracy”, Biden will be in a better position to neutralize any domestic challenge to his rule. This is crucial since there’s now a Republican-controlled House of Representatives. Also, the U.S. faces its most severe economic crisis in 50 years, with more and more Americans sinking into poverty. Next, Biden came to power in a tainted election marred by gross election interference from the FBI and major media outlets. What better way to distract the nation and unite the elite than to intensify the fight against Russia? Zelensky didn’t have to appear in Washington to get more money and weapons. But his physical presence in Congress has united Republicans with Democrats in support of the White House’s new crusade.
Still, the American people are disgusted by Zelensky. The Ukrainian leader’s speech to Congress was also intended to endear him to a suspicious American nation. But that backfired. Within hours after speaking, many negative comments appeared on social media. Americans slammed Zelensky as a beggar and a scam artist. (Sure, the Ukrainian diaspora and Democratic Party bots and fanatics were also active.) So, while Biden has succeeded in uniting the ruling elite in Washington, he has also widened the gap between the government and the American people, further increasing the possibility of social upheaval in the near future. Once again, we see how our government puts the interests of the ruling elite and corrupt foreign regimes ahead of the American people.
Moscow’s response to this? NATO has to surrender and pull out of Ukraine. (Well, that was predictable). Indeed, don’t expect peace negotiations in 2023. Moscow wants total victory. Russia will continue to fight until its geopolitical goals are achieved. And Ukraine will continue to bleed and become a wasteland.
Just like the U.S. will never tolerate Mexico allied with Russia, so Russia won’t tolerate Ukraine allied with NATO. We Americans have no vital interests in Ukraine, and we should feel no guilt in letting Russia have its own sphere of influence. We consider South America to be our exclusive sphere of influence, right?
And in the very slight possibility that NATO wins in Ukraine, let’s keep in mind that Russia this month has started deployment of its RS-28 Sarmat ICBM, which it will use if the nation’s survival is threatened.
You see — there’s no way we can win in Ukraine. Every possible outcome ends in a tragedy for Ukraine and the West. Except one — let’s get out of Ukraine now.
Asking for good uncles from Washington for more money and deadly arms funny Ukrainian boy holds out an enormous empty bag to them. Good uncle of course willingly gives him deadly gifts for Russian and Ukrainian people at Christmas!
